Does your dog know what to do, but struggle to do it when excitement takes over?
You’ll learn exercises that help your dog calm themselves, make better choices while excited, and refocus when distractions are competing for their attention.
This Workshop Can Help If Your Dog:
- Struggles to hold a stay, especially at the start line.
- Has trouble listening when excited or distracted.
- Chooses wildlife, dogs, or people over responding to you.
- Struggles with recalls when distractions are present.
- Grabs food or other items and runs off.
- Loses focus during training or competition.
- Has difficulty controlling excitement around sports and other stimulating activities.
What We’ll Work On
We’ll introduce practical exercises to strengthen:
- Attention and focus
- Wait and stay
- Leave it
- Impulse control
- Self-regulation around excitement
- Refocusing after distractions
- Better choices on and off course
These skills can help create a dog who stays enthusiastic about working while learning how to think and respond even when excitement is high.
Important Class Information
No reactive dogs. If your dog barks or lunges at other dogs or people, please ask us about our Reactive Dog programs.
Dogs may be crated and covered while they are not working or while skills are being demonstrated. Students should bring their own crates. If your dog can settle quietly on a mat, an exception may be made, but crating is preferred.
