Description

Agility is a fun, engaging sport that builds communication, confidence, and teamwork between you and your dog. This class focuses on foundational agility skills while prioritizing safety, clarity, and thoughtful progression.

Dogs work one at a time on course, primarily off leash. When it is not your dog’s turn, you will be actively working on assigned flatwork skills or observing the working team. Observation is a key part of learning agility and is intentionally built into the class structure.

Flatwork skills may include:

  • Start-line stays
  • Bending and turning
  • 2-on / 2-off behavior using platforms
  • Balance and body awareness work
  • Hand signals
  • And more

Obstacle and handling skills:

  • Jumps
  • Dog walk
  • A-frame
  • Teeter
  • Weave poles (dogs must be 12 months or older to work weaves)
  • Directionals and verbal cues
  • Short sequences

Who should enroll:

  • Teams interested in starting agility, whether for competition or recreation
  • Teams looking to strengthen beginner or early-intermediate obstacle and handling skills
  • Puppies are welcome, with age-appropriate limitations
    • Puppies will not be placed on the dog walk, A-frame, or teeter
    • Puppy work focuses on safety, confidence, balance equipment, wobble boards, appropriate jumps, and turns that prepare them for future obstacle work

Health and safety are always the priority.

Additional details:

  • Maximum of 6 working dogs
  • No auditors
  • Dogs must be able to work in a group environment
  • No reactive dogs – Dogs must not lunge, bark excessively, or fixate on other dogs or people
