Obedience – Intermediate

This class is designed to help you reach YOUR Obedience and enrichment Goals.

In our Obedience Level 2 class, you will build on the foundation behaviors your dog learned in  Obedience Level 1 and will be introduced to new behaviors as well.

Most handlers continue their Obedience training  with specific goals in mind:

• Hiking – You will need a reliable recall, at least.
• Leash walks either in the woods or somewhere busy
• Breweries, stores, etc.
• Traveling
• Sports
• You have a busy household
• Etc.

Our Intermediate Obedience class is designed to help you reach YOUR goals.  Each class will begin with your coach taking an inventory of what everyone’s goals are for THAT lesson and in general.

You will learn:

• How to develop an advanced plan for any situation.
• Advanced food management techniques to promote eventually NOT having to have food on you for training.
• Leash Handling techniques.
• Advanced Games and reward strategies that will keep your dog enthusiastic about learning.

This class is a must for those who are interested in Therapy Dog certification or Canine Good Citizen certification to prepare you for those Prep classes.  It is also a great refresher for those who’ve completed Basic Obedience training in the past, but would like to improve on their skills.

Minimum behavior requirements needed to start Basic Obedience Level 2:

• All skills from Obedience – Level 1
• Ability to work around other dogs without barking, lunging, etc
• Sit & Down with a verbal cue
• 15 second Stay in Sit or Down
• Basic Leash Skills – Leash Handling and Leash Walking
• Understanding Marker Training

If you are not sure if you meet the minimum requirements, please give us a call.  If you enroll in Obedience – Level 2 and you and your dog are found to  NOT meet the minimum requirements you will be transferred to an appropriate class.

!!! If you miss a class, you can reserve a spot in class to make it up for a small fee. WE DO NOT OFFER FREE MAKE-UP CLASSES.

No Reactive or Aggressive dogs.  We have an entire series of courses for those dogs who  bark and lunge at other dogs and/or people.  If you know that your dog barks or lunges at people or other dogs, please call us to inquire about what class to start with.  Dogs who struggle around other dogs or people can’t learn in an environment where there are at least 6 other dogs and their family.  At Pack of Paws we are absolutely the area experts for working with reactive and aggressive dogs.  Being in the right class to begin with is crucial for your learning experience as well as the experience of the dog.
