Description

“Obedience for the Agility Dog” is a specialized training class designed specifically for agility dogs and their handlers. This class focuses on enhancing obedience skills in the context of agility training and competitions, ensuring that your dog performs with discipline and focus amidst the unique challenges of agility environments.

What We Teach:

  • Rock Solid Start Line Stay: Training your dog to maintain a ready and steady position at the start line, crucial for a successful agility run.
  • Reliable Recall: Ensuring your dog promptly returns to you immediately on cue, an essential skill for safety and control.
  • Preventing Runaways: Techniques to stop your dog from taking off unexpectedly, maintaining your control over the course.
  • Off-Leash Transport: Skills to move your dog from point A to point B off-leash while ensuring they stay attentive and close to you.
  • Obedience Amidst Agility Distractions: Training your dog to remain focused in the presence of common agility distractions such as equipment, other running dogs, noise, and the presence of judges.

Additional Skills:

  • The course also covers various other obedience skills tailored to the agility setting, ensuring a well-rounded training experience.

What We Don’t Teach:

  • This class does not cover obstacle commitment, handling techniques, or course management strategies, as it primarily focuses on obedience aspects within agility contexts.

Who Should Enroll:

  • Agility Handlers and Competitors: Ideal for anyone who trains or competes in the sport of agility at any level, looking to enhance their dog’s obedience and focus.
  • Those Facing Obedience Challenges: Particularly beneficial for handlers who face challenges in class or at trials related to obedience aspects, such as maintaining a start line stay, managing the end-of-run routine, or dealing with a dog that tends to run off or fails to recall.
