Description
Nose work, also known as Scent Work, is a sport that mimics the task of working detection dogs to locate a scent and communicate to the handler that the scent has been found. Real-life detection dogs are trained to search for a variety of things–drugs, explosives, human remains, currency, other contraband, living humans (such as for Search and Rescue), and much more. Nose work takes this amazing working relationship and turns it into a fun game that any dog can play.
Nose work is great for:
- Busy dogs with energy to burn.
- Shy dogs or rescue dogs for a great boost of confidence.
- Old dogs who would love a low-impact activity to keep them engaged.
- Dogs who may need a little space around other dogs. Dogs work one at a time.
- Puppies!
- Dogs with no formal training-no prerequisites required
Nose work is easy to teach and fun to train. The only equipment needed is a few scented Q-tips and a dog that loves toys or food. Nose work is also great for city dogs because training can happen anywhere.
Additional Details:
- Reactive dogs welcome.
- One dog will be working in the building at a time.
- Dogs will be expected to remain in their vehicle while not working.
