The CCPDT is the leader in the development of rigorous exams to demonstrate mastery of humane, science-based dog training practices. Thousands of dog training professionals worldwide maintain the CCPDT’s certifications as a mark of high professional distinction.
IAABC awards skill-based certifications in animal behavior consulting. To determine whether you meet the standards for Certified or Associate Certified designated, we need evidence that you have the skills you need to sucessfully manage, prevent and modify challenging behavior in your chosen species.
Certification of Behavior Adjustment Training (BAT) instructors provides dog owners with a trusted source of referrals to behaviorists and trainers using BAT to rehabilitate dog aggression and other issues. She started this program in August 2012. Certified BAT Instructors (CBATI) are trainers and behaviorists with experience using BAT with clients for aggression, fear, and bullying.
The Association of Professional Dog Trainers (APDT) is a professional organization of individual trainers who are committed to becoming better trainers through education. The APDT encourages all trainers and aspiring trainers to pursue continuing education throughout their careers. In an effort to set a standard for what it means to be a “well rounded” dog trainer, the APDT has developed a Body of Knowledge.

The AKC’s Canine Good Citizen® (CGC) Program is rapidly becoming recognized as the standard of behavior for dogs in our communities. Canine Good Citizen® resolutions have been passed by 42 state legislatures and the United States Senate, insurance companies are starting to use CGC® to insure breeds they would not otherwise insure, and some condominium associations around the country now require that all dogs in the complex have earned the Canine Good Citizen® award.
